Statement of IRI

Under the rapid gain of popularity of digital archives and libraries sites construction in recent years, we, Intellectual Resources Initiative, (hereafter referred to as the “IRI”) admire the activity of JPEG2000 and its result formulated by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/ WG 1 in the mean time, and also become aware that the security technology presented by JPEG2000 as a new social foundation is indispensable to the construction of digital archives and libraries. For this reason, we have decided to contract the registration authority of JPEG2000 to help popularize this security technology. It has to be clarified that we, the IRI does everything on the basis of its policy and will be accomplishing the earlier mentioned work as the RA.

It should be noted that, as an incorporated nonprofit organization, the IRI is not responsible for all the economic and business activities that are caused by the work of JPEG2000 as the RA, and permanent engagement to the related activities cannot be guaranteed. In the case where we cannot continue the work of JPEG2000 as the RA due to any reasons, we will do our best to ask ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 1 to form or find other suitable companies to complete the remaining work.
